perpendiculares (\perp)

perpendicular (\perp)

describe rectas que se cruzan formando un ángulo recto (90^\circ); en una gráfica, sus pendientes son recíprocos negativos.

Ejemplo

y = 2x + 1 y y = -\tfrac{1}{2}x + 2 son perpendiculares: 2 \times (-\tfrac{1}{2}) = -1.

En inglés

perpendicular (\perp) — describes lines that meet at a right angle (90^\circ); on a graph, their slopes are negative reciprocals.

y = 2x + 1 and y = -\tfrac{1}{2}x + 2 are perpendicular: 2 \times (-\tfrac{1}{2}) = -1.
