una forma de escribir números muy grandes o muy pequeños como c \times 10^n, donde c es por lo menos 1 pero menor que 10.
Ejemplo
52{,}000 = 5.2 \times 10^4 y 0.003 = 3 \times 10^{-3}.

scientific notation — a way to write very large or very small numbers as c \times 10^n, where c is at least 1 but less than 10.
