índice (de una raíz)

index (of a root)

el número pequeño en la muesca del signo de raíz que dice qué raíz tomar; si no aparece ningún número, es 2.

Ejemplo

En \sqrt[3]{27}, el índice es 3 (una raíz cúbica), así que \sqrt[3]{27} = 3.

En inglés

index (of a root) — the small number in the notch of a root sign that tells which root to take; when no number is shown, it is 2.

In \sqrt[3]{27}, the index is 3 (a cube root), so \sqrt[3]{27} = 3.
