Dear Parents and Guardians,

(1) The Greenfield Parks and Recreation Department is pleased to announce that registration for Summer Day Camp is now open. Camp will run for eight weeks, from late June through mid-August. Each week has a different theme, such as Space Explorers, Ocean Life, and Inventors' Workshop.

(2) The program is open to children ages 6 to 12, and all of the counselor's have completed first aid and CPR training. Each group of ten campers is led by two counselors. Campers will swim at the city pool twice a week, take nature walks, and work on art and science projects.

(3) Camp is held at the Westbrook Community Center, located at the corner of Lake Street and Ninth avenue. Drop-off begins at 7:30 a.m., and pickup ends at 5:30 p.m. Children must be signed in and out by a parent, a guardian, or another adult listed on the registration form.

(4) Families should pack: a water bottle, sunscreen, a hat, and a swimsuit on pool days. Lunch and two snacks are provided each day at no extra cost. If your child has a food allergy, please describe it on the health form so that our kitchen staff can plan safe meals.

(5) The weekly fee is $95 for Greenfield residents and $120 for nonresidents. Financial assistance is available for families who qualify. To apply, complete the assistance section of the registration packet and return it to the front desk with proof of income.

(6) Space is limited, so we encourage you to register early. You can register online, by phone, or in person at the community center. If you have questions, please call our office at 555-0193. We look forward to a safe, fun, and memorable summer!

(1) Our annual block party will take place on Saturday, August 16 2027, on Willow Creek Drive between Oak Lane and Cedar Avenue. The street will be closed to traffic from noon until 9:00 p.m. so that families can enjoy the afternoon safely. Please move any cars parked on that block by 11:00 a.m.

(2) This year's party includes several new activities. A local bakery will sell pies and cookies, and the fire department will bring a truck for children to explore. The childrens' games will be set up in the empty lot next to the community garden. In the evening, a band from Jefferson High School will play on a small stage near the corner.

(3) We are also pleased to announce that the Mayor will stop by at 4:00 p.m. to thank volunteers. Our block party has grown every year since it began, and the city has noticed how much it brings neighbors together.

(4) Ray Dunn, our treasurer will collect a five-dollar donation from each household at the welcome table. Every dollar goes toward next year's party and a new fence for the community garden. No one will be turned away for being unable to pay.

(5) Many neighbors have asked whether the party will be canceled if it rains? If storms are forecast, we will move the food and music into the fellowship hall at Grace Church, which has offered its space free of charge. We will post any change on the bulletin board at the corner store by Friday evening.

(6) Volunteers are still needed for setup, cleanup, and the welcome table. To sign up, call Linda Park at 555-0148 or reply to this letter by August 1. We hope to see you there!

(1) As part of our new safety plan, Hartwell Distribution will hold forklift safety training sessions during the week of September 22. These sessions are required by our insurance provider, and they will also help us meet federal workplace safety standards.

(2) Luis Ortega who has worked at Hartwell for fifteen years will lead the sessions. Luis trained many of our current operators, and he has a perfect safety record. Each session will last three hours and will include a classroom review, a written quiz, and a hands-on driving test.

(3) The sessions are mandatory; for all forklift operators. Employees, who have not completed the safety course, may not operate forklifts after October 1. If you are unsure whether your certification is current, check with your shift supervisor.

(4) Sessions will be offered on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 7:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. To reserve a seat, sign up on the sheet outside the safety office no later than Friday, September 19. Employees will be paid their regular hourly rate for the time they spend in training. Seats are limited to eight people per session, so please sign up early. Supervisors will adjust shift schedules so that every operator can attend without working overtime.

The room will be closed from Monday through Wednesday, and the vending machine's will be moved temporarily to the hallway near the loading dock.
