This full-length practice test is built like the real GED® Social Studies test. Treat it like test day: find a quiet place, put your phone away, and let the timer run.
- 35 questions in one section, 70 minutes. That is about 2 minutes per question.
- Topics: civics and government (about half), U.S. history, economics, and geography and the world. This test pays special attention to state and local government, the Progressive Era and industrialization, labor markets and wages, and cities and the environment.
- Most questions are based on a reading, a historical document, a graph, a table, a timeline, a diagram or a map. Some readings have more than one question. Paragraphs are numbered so you can find evidence quickly.
- Question types include multiple choice, select all that apply, drop-down, drag-and-drop, fill-in-the-blank and hot spot (click on a part of an image). Read each question's directions carefully.
- An on-screen calculator is available for questions that need arithmetic.
- There is no penalty for guessing. Answer every question.
- Use Flag for review to mark questions you want to come back to. Save a few minutes at the end to review them before time runs out.
- Tip: read the question first, then go back to the source to find the evidence you need.
When the test ends, you'll see your estimated score, an explanation for every question, and the skills to study next. Good luck!
The timer keeps running if you leave the page, just like on the real test.
