replace a number with a nearby, simpler value at a given place; if the next digit is 5 or more, round up, otherwise round down.
Example
3.47 rounded to the nearest tenth is 3.5; 12.432 rounded to the nearest hundredth is 12.43.

redondear (al … más cercano) — cambiar un número por un valor cercano y más simple en cierto lugar; si el dígito siguiente es 5 o más, redondea hacia arriba; si no, hacia abajo.
