This practice test is built like the real GED® Mathematical Reasoning test. Its questions are set in everyday situations: travel and vacations, hobbies and recreation, gardening, and phones and technology.
- 46 questions, 115 minutes. The timer runs for the whole test.
- Part 1 (questions 1–5): no calculator. These questions test number sense, fractions, exponents, roots and absolute value. Once you move on to Part 2, you cannot return to Part 1, so check these five answers before you continue.
- Part 2 (questions 6–46): calculator allowed. You can use the on-screen TI-30XS MultiView calculator and the formula sheet for every question in this part.
- Question types include multiple choice, fill-in-the-blank, drop-down, drag-and-drop, select-all and hot spot (click on a graph or figure).
- Read every graph, table and figure carefully — check the labels and units on each axis.
- There is no penalty for guessing. Answer every question, even if you are not sure.
- Use Flag for review to mark questions you want to come back to. Before time runs out, use the review screen to check flagged and unanswered questions in Part 2.
- Pace yourself: about 2½ minutes per question. If a question takes too long, make your best guess, flag it, and move on.
When you finish, you will see your score, the correct answers and a full step-by-step explanation for every question.
The timer keeps running if you leave the page, just like on the real test.
